Types
  1. Simple subjects: the one noun or pronoun the sentence is about
    bullet John baked the cake. (Who baked the cake?)
    bullet He baked the cake.
    bullet The baker baked the cake.
  2. Compound subjects: two or more simple subjects in the same sentence
    bullet Billy and John baked the cake.
    bullet A baseball player, a hockey player, a tennis player, and a cheerleader were featured in this week's newspaper article.
  3. Complete Subject: the simple subject or subjects and all modifiers of that subject
    bullet When studying for a major test, you should keep focused on the notes in front of you.
    bullet Does your sister from Reno have any tickets to the musical?
    bullet There are three birds in the birdbath.
