Dear Parents,

Welcome to high school! For many of you, the last time you were in a high school was when you were a student yourself. Things have changed quite a bit since then. However, our goal is still the same. We all want your student to be successful. For many students (and parents as well) the transition from middle school to high school will be tough, but it will also be a great learning experience. I will help in any way that I can to make the transition easier.

Biology will be a challenge this year for students. This semester we will cover many topics including Lab Safety, Metric Measurement, Properties of life, Chemistry of Life, Cells, Mitosis, Meiosis, DNA, Protein Synthesis, Patterns of Heredity and Genetic Engineering. It will be a very busy semester!

I will be sending home some paperwork with your student on the first day of school. This paperwork will need to be signed and returned to me the next day. If you would like to get this paperwork in advance, please visit my website, www.engdav.net/science. This site will be available all year for you and your student to use as a tool for my class.
