STOP!!!!

Students BEWARE!!!!! Don't be tempted....It is stealing, cheating, and just plain WRONG!!! Do not take the easy way out!!!!!!!

Cheaters never win, and winners never cheat...RIGHT?????

To stay out of jail, to avoid paying a hefty fine, and, most importantly, to get full credit on your project, please read the "cheat sheet" about copyright below!!

You are in luck!!! Because you are a student, and you are completing this project for educational purposes, you are allowed to use some copyrighted information!!! This is called Fair Use. Before you get too excited, you must realize that there are some limitations.

You need to make sure that you use a variety of sources for your project; do not get all of your information from one source. Check out the research resource page for help in finding appropriate resources.
The less you take from a source, the better.
Facts are not copyrighted, but the way that the facts are presented are. Be careful!!

As you ponder what to put in your powerpoint slide, please be mindful of the following:

Pictures that you would like to use need to come from free sites such as Image Chef or FlickR. Not sure how to use these sites? Check out this video on Flickr!!!

If you would like to add music to your slide, you can!!! However, you are only allowed to use 10% of the song. (You cannot download any material from the web onto the school computer!!! This is a violation of school policy and can land you a few days in "school jail". ) You may bring a cd from home, however, to use in your powerpoint.

Please remember, you are to cite everything!!! If in doubt, cite!!! Always cite the work that you put into your powerpoint. Cite, cite, cite!!!! (Do you get the idea?)

As you research the information on the web, open a new window and go to easybib. This is one of many internet sites that will help you cite your sources correctly. Anytime you get information that you need, please make sure you enter the source information into easybib. You will be glad you did!!!!
